Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Chaffiti, including the Chaffiti apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, the Chaffiti Safari extension, and chaffiti.com (together, "Chaffiti"). By using Chaffiti you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Chaffiti.

1. What Chaffiti is

Chaffiti lets you read and post public comments about web pages. Comments are tied to the page they're about and are visible to anyone who views that page with Chaffiti, and to anyone who opens a shared link to a comment.

2. Your account

You sign in with Apple. You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your Apple ID secure. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Chaffiti. Your public name is your first name and last initial.

3. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

Chaffiti has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You may not post, and we will remove, content that:

  • harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates or targets any person or group;
  • is hateful or discriminatory, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age;
  • is sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualizes minors in any way;
  • depicts, promotes or encourages violence, self-harm, terrorism or illegal activity;
  • shares someone else's private information without their consent;
  • is spam, scams, malware, or deceptive or misleading promotion;
  • impersonates another person or organization; or
  • infringes anyone's intellectual property or other rights.

Users who post objectionable content or behave abusively will be removed from Chaffiti. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts at any time, with or without notice, if we believe these terms have been violated.

4. Reporting and blocking

Every comment can be reported from within Chaffiti, and we review every report. When content violates these terms we remove it, and we eject users who posted it from Chaffiti by suspending their accounts.

You can also block any user. Blocking hides that user's comments and replies from you. Comments you report are hidden from you right away while we review them.

5. Your content

You own the comments you post. By posting, you give Chaffiti a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce and distribute your comments in connection with operating and promoting Chaffiti, including on shareable comment pages. This license ends when your content is deleted, except where it has been shared by others or where we must keep it to comply with law or enforce these terms.

You're responsible for what you post. Comments are public; don't post anything you wouldn't want others to see.

6. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from the Chaffiti app. Deletion is scheduled for 14 days after you request it, and you're signed out on all devices right away. Signing in again during those 14 days cancels the deletion.

After 14 days your account is permanently deleted: your comments are erased, along with your votes, reports and blocks. Where other people replied to one of your comments, a "Deleted user" placeholder without your text stays in its place so their replies still make sense.

7. Other websites

Chaffiti shows comments about websites run by others. We're not affiliated with those websites, and they don't endorse or control the comments about them. Comments represent the views of the people who posted them, not Chaffiti.

8. Acceptable use of the service

Don't misuse Chaffiti. For example, don't try to access it by means other than the interfaces we provide, interfere with or disrupt it, scrape it, circumvent rate limits, or use automated means to post content.

9. Disclaimers and liability

Chaffiti is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chaffiti isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from content posted by users or from your use of Chaffiti.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app. Continuing to use Chaffiti after changes take effect means you accept them.
