Privacy Policy

Last updated October 1, 2026

Chaffiti is built to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Chaffiti apps, the Safari extension and chaffiti.com, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

From Sign in with Apple

  • An Apple user identifier, a random ID unique to Chaffiti that lets us recognize your account.
  • Your name, if you choose to share it. Others see only your first name and last initial.
  • Your email address, if you choose to share it. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only receive a private relay address. We never show your email to other users.

What you do in Chaffiti

  • Comments and replies you post, including when you posted and edited them.
  • The web pages you comment on: the site's domain and the page path (we drop query strings and fragments). We only record a page once someone comments on it.
  • Votes (likes and dislikes) you give to comments.
  • Reports you file, including the reason and any description you add.
  • Blocks: the users you've blocked.
  • Sign-in sessions, so you stay signed in on your devices.

What we don't collect

The extension doesn't track your browsing history. It only contacts Chaffiti when you open it on a page (or follow a link to a comment), and then sends just that page's address, without query strings or fragments, to load its comments. If you tap a link inside a comment, it also looks up where that link goes. We don't keep a list of the pages you open Chaffiti on, though our servers keep temporary technical logs of these requests, including the page address and your IP address, for security and troubleshooting. We don't use advertising trackers.

How we use it

  • To run Chaffiti: show comments, attribute them to their authors, count votes and replies, and keep you signed in.
  • To keep Chaffiti safe: review reports, remove content that breaks our Terms of Use, and suspend abusive accounts.
  • To respond when you contact support.

What's public

Comments are public. Anyone using Chaffiti on a page, or opening a shared link to a comment, can see the comment, your display name (first name and last initial), when it was posted, and its votes and replies.

Sharing

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers. We use a small number of service providers (such as hosting) to run Chaffiti, and they may only process data on our behalf. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from the Chaffiti app at any time. You're signed out everywhere immediately, and the account is permanently deleted 14 days later (signing in during that time cancels the deletion). Deletion erases your comments, votes, reports, blocks, name and email, and revokes Chaffiti's access to your Apple ID. Where other people replied to one of your comments, a "Deleted user" placeholder without your text remains so their replies still make sense.

You can also stop using Chaffiti with your Apple ID in your Apple Account settings under Sign in with Apple.

Retention

We keep your data while your account exists. Content removed by moderators may be kept for a limited time to handle appeals and repeat abuse.

Children

Chaffiti isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we make significant changes to this policy we'll let you know in the app.
